Truthfully as far as my goals go this week hasn't been productive.  I binge wrote 1100 words and haven't written since.  My reading has been nonexistent. Instead I've been binge watching Netflix.  With my life in disarray I've spent a lot of time thinking about why I want to write and who inspired me to write.  Why do you write and who inspired you.  Feel free to comment.

  1. I couldn't agree more sometimes, but don't give up! Just because you don't write or even read every day doesn't mean you're not a writer or that you can't do it. Don't be so hard on yourself :)

  2. Don't be so hard on yourself, I think sometimes we need the distractions and it fills the mind. I spend a lot of my time trying to figure out the ending or talking about how I would change the endings. I love it when something actually surprises me. I also have found when I am binge reading I have more ideas to write on my own!

  3. We all have days like that, and sometimes those distractions can give you inspiration.

I write young adult fiction, and have been inspired by several things. I have blog post telling about what inspired me: https://charityrau.wordpress.com/2015/10/06/why-i-write/

  4. I have read that the real work of writing happens when we are doing other things. You may feel like you were having a time of low productivity after a writing binge, but your mind was probably churning away, cogitating, storing up new ideas. Soon you'll wake from a nap, get out of the shower, or come home from walking your dog and you'll have an "aha" moment that will send you back to the keyboard. I hope to see you around via the 30-day platform challenge (where I found your link). You can connect with me at www.triciarobertson.com and we can write (or not write) together.

  5. I started writing after producing and presenting a 13-episode cooking program on Bahrain TV. Magazines and newspapers asked me to write food columns for them. Meeting deadline week after week for years excited me. Writing regular business column also excited me. However, I would say that writing without any deadline at times is boring. Additionally when I’m writing about an emotionally difficult situation I tend to procrastinate. Do you think any of these reasons cause you to sidetrack? When we chide ourselves and feel guilty for having good times then every muscle in our body rebels and we self sabotage. Could this be the reason? I would appreciate if you could let me know on https://apakistaniwomansjourney.wordpress.com. Thank you.

  6. Yeah, binges can be hard on the system. I get so involved sometimes I forget how long I am writing. But binge watching on Netflix, especially on Daredevil and the like ;-), that makes for a good break :-)

  7. I write because it's the only thing that keeps me sane and healthy, and I have to in order to be the person I have always had the potential to be. I've been inspired by so many, but I would say that one particular person who gave me more inspiration and belief in myself as a writer, more than any other, was a man named Lt. Matthew Schumacher. He is a psychologist on the naval base near Napels, Italy. I spoke with him a few times when I was having some difficulties with life, and he told me I needed to write--it was that simple. I listened and nearly five years later I have a blog, I've published one story in a magazine, and I've written a novel (first draft, to be revised and submitted). Hang in there, your reasons will become apparent to you!
